Charles Harvey Saul, 96 of Taylorville passed from this life on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. at Taylorville Care Center in Taylorville, Ill.
Charlie was born on June 27, 1924 in Springfield, Ill. the son of George and Alice (Smith) Saul. He married Ruby Morris on December 24, 1947 in Springfield, Ill. and she survives.
Charlie began his working life as a paper boy and a grocery delivery boy in Springfield, moving on to work at Allis Chalmers. Later Charlie was engaged in farming for 50 years and rounding out his life as the Plant Manager for Midstate Salvage Corp for 21 years retiring at 81 years of age.
Charlie is survived by Ruby, his bride of 73 years, children: Carolyn (Neal) Lebeter of Taylorville, Sharon (Randy) Smith of Kingman, Ariz., grandchildren: Randy C. Smith of Taylorville; Jennifer Lebeter of Morrisonville, and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins, including his special cousin Pat Sapp Sawyer.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: George Saul and Larry Saul; sisters: Betty Hoggit and Alice Mae Tuebner. Charlie was often teased about having been preceded in death by one famous grandparent, King Saul of Israel.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 19, 2020 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Taylorville. Memorial Service will be held immediately following the visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Taylorville with Pastor Gerald McPhillips officiating.
The family requests that the CDC health guidelines of wearing a mask and social distancing be followed.
