Dennis Schultz, 77 of Taylorville, died at 10:23 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. Dennis was born on September 8, 1943 to George and Clara (Dinelli) Schultz. He married Donna Schaefer on May 2, 1964 in Waukegan, and she preceded him in death on November 20, 2018. Dennis worked as a meat cutter, retiring from Jewel after 37 years. He was a member of the Meat Cutters Union 536. In his younger years, Dennis went by “Hawk” and enjoyed playing horseshoes and boating. More recently, Dennis spent his days woodworking, attending and showing in Mustang car shows, and he loved his tractor. He was a great dad and a wonderful grandpa, and he will truly be missed.
Dennis is survived by his two children: Anthony Schultz of Taylorville, and Jodie Asebedo (Jody Bates) of Tovey; two grandchildren: Jamie Higgason (Drew), and Jenna Asebedo (Josh Gillespie); great grandchildren: Payslee, Waylen, and one great granddaughter on the way; sister: Barbara Hinde; brother: Roger Schultz; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Dingo.
Along with his wife Donna, Dennis was preceded in death by his parents.
His family will host a private service at a later date. He will be laid to rest with his wife at Edinburg Cemetery.
