Rita L. Roth, 95, of Pana, Illinois passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Heritage Health Therapy & Senior Care, Pana.

Rita was born August 30, 1925, the daughter of John C. & Elizabeth M. (Bedinghaus) Krager in their Krager country home, northwest of Harvel, Illinois. She was the youngest of eight children. Rita attended Mount Vernon County Grade School and graduated from Harvel High School with the class of 1943.

Rita and Edward L. Roth married on June 28, 1950 at St. Raymond’s Catholic Church, Raymond, Illinois. She lived on a farm west of Pana for 53 years before moving to Pana in 2003. She was a homemaker and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Rita was a longtime member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, as well as being a member of St. Patrick’s C.C.W. (currently known as St. Patrick’s Ladies Society) where she attended many of their diocesan conventions, St. Mary’s Circle, Catholic Order of Foresters, Morrisonville, and Christian County Farm Bureau.

Rita, such a dear sweet mother, is survived by her children: Louis Roth, Mesa, Arizona; Delores Schafer (Bob), Pana; Larry Roth, Taylorville, Illinois; Diane Roth, Aurora, Colorado; Alice Wilderman, Pana; Roger Roth (Kathy), Evansville, Wisconsin; Teresa Metzger (Kent), Gays, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents: John C. & Elizabeth M. (Bedinghaus) Krager and siblings: Pauline Krager, Catherine Boehler (Roy); Frank Krager (Norma); Marie Jones (Roy); Henry Krager (Lucille), two brothers in infancy; as well as husband: Edward L. Roth (June 14, 2000), and son: Frank J. Roth (June 25, 2014).

A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Pana, with Father Rodney A. Schwartz officiating. Visitation will precede the funeral mass beginning at 9:00 a.m. and will be held in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, Illinois.
