Nelvin Sloman, 90 of Springfield passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 10:55 p.m. at his home in Springfield, Ill.
He was born on October 8, 1930 in Ramsey, Ill. the son of William and Lois (Wilson) Sloman. He Married Ida D. Garrett on June 24, 1950 in the Fairview Methodist Church south east of Morrisonville, Ill. and she preceded him in death on March 8, 2018.
He graduated from Morrisonville High school in the class of 1948 and he attended Springfield, Junior College. Nelvin worked as a Farmer and Pioneer Seed Representative for over 30 years. He was a member of the Zenobia Baptist Church and he also attended Bethel Baptist Church in Sharpsburg, Ill. He was a Charter Member of the Christian County Genealogical Society and past member of the Christian County Historical Society.
Nelvin is survived by his sons : Dennis (Nancy) Sloman, Thomas (Patti) Sloman and David (Janet) Sloman; grandchildren: Tyler (Samantha) Sloman, Amanda (Chad) Patton, Chad (Elizabeth) Sloman, Amy (Jason) Stiff, Garrett (Danielle) Sloman, Matthew (Brenda) Sloman; great-grandchildren: Alex, Madalyn and Ellie Sloman; Grant and Griffin Patton; Aidan, Elisa, Brenna and Carson Sloman; Christina and Lauren Jo Stiff; Schaeffer, Charlotte and Beckett Sloman; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and his granddaughter: Chrissy Sloman.
Graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 12:00 noon in Morrisonville Cemetery in Morrisonville, Ill. with Pastor David Poeschel and Pastor Dan Edwards officiating.
