Vonda Pauline Mooney-Ellrich, 89, of Taylorville passed away at 11:05 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Heritage Manor in Pana.
She was born on May 11, 1930 in Morrisonville, the daughter of William Nelson and Freda Cecelia (Kessler) Phelps. She married John Mooney in 1950 and he preceded her in death in 1974. She later married Robert Ellrich in 1976 and he also preceded her in death in 2005.
Vonda previously worked at the Shirley Shop in Taylorville before being a homemaker. Later she worked at Summer’s in Taylorville for many years. She was an active member of the Taylorville First Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon, was a member of the Presbyterian Women, and used her gift of cooking to serve the church in many areas. Vonda was talented in many crafts including her love of cooking and baking and sewing. She was a talented seamstress all her life and could make and repair any type of garment. She also enjoyed refinishing furniture. Whether she was cooking, sewing or working on a furniture project, she made sure the result was perfect.
She is survived by her daughters: Neva Mooney and Lisa C. Richardson (Randy) both of Taylorville; grandchildren: John Richardson of Springfield and Katherine Richardson (fiancé, Will Decker) of Portland, Oregon; five nieces and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, and sisters: Iva Altman and Lila Allen.
Mrs. Ellrich was cremated, and a memorial service will be held at 11a.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at McClure Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Bellegante officiating. The visitation will take place on hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
