James "Jim" Fowler of Roberts, Wisc. passed away December 22, 2020 from multiple health issues compromised by the COVID-19 virus.
Jim was born October 16, 1947 in Taylorville, the son of Paul James and Zelma F. (Morgan) Fowler.
Jim attended Taylorville schools, including Hewittville School, graduating high school in 1965. He was active in scouts, baseball, band, and track. His high school track experience led him to run several marathons later. He enjoyed attending concerts to hear his favorite bands and his daughter, Carrie, joined him to see Pantera, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Mastadon and Tool. Carrie claims she had a "rockin dad.”
After high school, Jim attended Indian Hills Community College in Centerville, Iowa. While in Centerville, he met and married Elizabeth Jo Lederer and they were married 50 years. Jim lived and worked in Taylorville (Sangamon Paper Company), Burlington, Iowa and Pearland, Texas. Upon retiring, he settled in Roberts, Wisc. to be near his daughter Carrie and her family.
Jim always considered Taylorville "home" and looked forward to vacations visiting. He attended his class reunions whenever possible. The group of 1965 graduates who first attended Hewittville School with him had a special place in his heart.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Elijah Loper, nephew, Adam Buckley, and brother-in-law, Chuck Westerhouse. Surviving in addition to his wife Elizabeth (Betsy) are his daughters Carrie Fowler and Elizabeth Fowler; three grandsons, Andrew, RJ,and Eric; great-grandson River Morgan and his great-granddaughter who is due in 2021; his sister Rebecca (Becky) Westerhouse of Taylorville; several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Jim will be cremated and no service will be held.
