Daniel Ray Wicks, 79 of Kincaid, died at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday December 23, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
He was born at home in Logan, Illinois on March 3, 1941 to Revola (Moore) Wicks-Goodman.
He attended Taylorville High School and graduated in 1959. Mr. Wicks then went on to join the Army Reserves. He married Janita Mrozek on November 27, 1965, and she preceded him in death on February 8, 1996.
Mr. Wicks worked in the tire industry for most of his life at Firestone in Decatur. He was a lifetime member of the NRA as well as a member of the Taylorville Rifle & Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time. Mr. Wicks loved spending time with his family and treasured his time spent with his brothers and friends.
Mr. Wicks is survived by his two children: Shannon Wicks and Danette (Terry) Babbs, both of Kincaid, one granddaughter: Katie Jo Young; one sister, Mary Lou Pritchett, and one brother, Stan Wicks.
Along with his wife, he was preceded in death by his mother and siblings: Kenny Wicks, Marvin Wicks, Henry Wicks, and Georgie Wicks.
Mr. Wicks will be cremated, and a private graveside committal service will be held at a later date, with his son, Reverend Shannon Wicks, officiating. Mr. Wicks will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville. McClure Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
