LaVerne Rose Frost, 82, of Springfield, formerly of Taylorville and Buffalo, died at 12:20 p.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village.
LaVerne was born January 27, 1938, in Morrisonville, the daughter of Everett V. and Rachel L. Langen Loman. She married Charles Leaton Frost on July 13, 1955, in Taylorville; he preceded her in death on December 8, 2020.
LaVerne graduated from Morrisonville High School and started working for Illinois Bell. She then went to work for Westlake Equipment Company for 15 years and then the U.S. Postal Service until her retirement after ten years of service. LaVerne was a member of South Tower Community Church where she volunteered as a librarian, was a leader of the Ladies Ministries, and Church of God where her husband was a pastor. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting, knitting, painting, and genealogy.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
LaVerne is survived by her three sons, Mark (wife, Linda) of Owaneco, Ill., Jerald “Jerry” (wife, Shirley) of Edinburg, and Charles “Matt” Frost of Springfield; two daughters, Jean (husband, Greg) Rathgeber and Mary Everson, both of Springfield; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
A private family burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
