Phyllis J. Wilson, 84 of Edinburg, passed away at 11:45 a.m. on Friday, December 4, 2020 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.
She was born on June 2, 1936 in Barry, Illinois, the daughter of Merle and Edith (Baker) Mellon. She married Richard Wilson on February 2, 1956 in Barry.
Phyllis worked for several years at the Chatham Community Bank and later at Sangamon State University from where she retired. She grew up in the Methodist Church. Phyllis had a love for all animals. She enjoyed feeding birds and had many dogs throughout the years, but her true passion was horses. She rode and cared for horses during the majority of her life. She loved the time spend with her animals and took many trail-riding trips with friends. Phyllis enjoyed time spent outdoors, taking walks in the woods.
She is survived by her husband: Richard Wilson of Edinburg; children: Marsha Turner (Steve) of Weatherford, Texas, Mitchell Wilson of Edinburg, and Mark Wilson (Tammy) of Stonington.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers: Robert Mellon and Don Mellon.
Mrs. Wilson will be cremated, and the family will host a celebration of life at a later date. Inurnment will take place at the Edinburg Cemetery.
