Jacob William Meister, 24, of Terre Haute, Indiana, formerly of Paris, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was a student at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
He was born October 1, 1996, in Urbana, Illinois, the son of David D. Meister and Marianne (McIntosh) Meister.
Survivors include his mother, Marianne Meister, and his father, David Meister, both of Taylorville, Illinois; his sister, Molly Meister of Peoria, Illinois; his grandparents, Stanley McIntosh of Paris and Eileen Meister of Laramie, Wyoming; aunts and uncles, Doug and Jana Boyer of Philo, Illinois, Mark and Allison McIntosh of Lantana, Texas, Stan and Susan Redwinski of Monticello, Illinois, Jerry and Kathie Means of Gillette, Wyoming, and Ken Meister of Billings, Montana. He was preceded in death by two grandparents, Patricia McIntosh and James Meister.
Jake was valedictorian of the Paris High School Class of 2015. He was currently working at an extended internship with the Hospital Corporation of Indiana, and was looking forward to graduating from Rose-Hulman in May with a Bachelor’s in Computer Software Engineering, minoring in Japanese.
Jake’s indomitable spirit, persistence, amazing intellect, and determination made it possible for him to endure a rigorous curriculum in spite of chronic pain and physical limitations associated with his illness, and he was especially proud of having maintained a regular spot on the Dean’s List. In his spare time, Jake was a competitive online gamer and enjoyed developing an extensive network of friends throughout the world.
Memorial visitation will be from 12 noon until 6 p.m. on February 27, 2021, at Templeton Funeral Home, with the family present after 2 p.m. Interment will be private in Edgar Cemetery.
