Gary Jesse Workman passed away at his home, on March 1, 2021 in Lake Havasu, Arizona. He previously resided in Kincaid, Ill.
Gary was born on September 24, 1953 in Pekin, Ill., the son of Jesse Clayton Workman and Velma Grace Cloe (Murphy).
He attended school in the Sangamon and Christian County area. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp (1970 -1975) and stationed in San Diego, California and Paris Island, North Carolina and was a veteran of the Vietnam era.
Gary was a free-spirited soul who was a roamer by nature. He traveled all over the United States in his motorhome and motorcycle. He was a member of several bike organizations and rode in and sponsored many benefits. He worked in construction and drove semis. He never knew a stranger, as he had the gift of gab. He was a ladies man. Gary always had a quick joke and an infectious laugh.
He is survived by his wife Shannon Workman and his best friend and companion TRIPP, his pit bull from Arizona; mother Velma Cloe of Kincaid; two daughters: Jacquline Workman (Kentucky) and Crystal Desposito (Idaho); two sons: Jesse Workman (Kentucky) and Jeremiah Workman (California); eight grandchildren: Shaylynn, Angela, Sophia, Carli, Allison, Jesse, Dillion, and Quen; brothers: Steve, Howard, Terry, Vincent, Jeff, Dennis, Patrick, Michael, and Lloyd; sisters: Janet, Ruby (Darlene) Dorothy, Lorraine, Debbie, Cynthia, Jessica, Tammy, Phyllis, Bernadine and Sissy.
He was preceded in death by Jesse Clayton Workman (father) and Louise Powel (step-mother).
Creamation rites were accorded in Arizona. Masterson Funeral Home in Kincaid, Ill. is assisting the family here. Inurnment and burial will be at Camp Butler in Springfield, Ill. and a celebration of life are both scheduled for a later date.
