Pana JFL takes on Roxana
The Pana JFL teams traveled to Roxana to face off against the Shells on Saturday. The Panthers brought home one win on Saturday, as the eighth grade Pana team topped the Shells 36-0. The other teams weren’t as fortunate on the day with each of the fifth, sixth, and seventh grade teams unable to break the plane and score.

Pana brothers early stars for Notre Dame football
Until forced to vacate wins from the 2012 and 2013 seasons early last year, Notre Dame ranked second only to Michigan in victories in the history of college football. Three brothers from Pana were stars on the earliest Notre Dame teams in the nineteenth century.

Final James 'Zip' Dudra golf tournament held in Pana
There were 56 golfers who played an 18 hole two-man scramble on Sunday, July 8, at the Pana Country Club. This event marked the ninth and final year the tournament has been held, honoring the memory of James “Zip” Dudra who died Apr. 16, 2009.

PANA — The Pana Panthers were down 12-6 going into halftime against Shelbyville on Friday night. Whatever head coach Trevor Higgins said during his halftime talk must’ve worked because the Panthers came back with 22 unanswered points to win 28-12 over the Rams.

7-on-7's from Saturday; THS, Pana, and A&M
Both Taylorville and Pana competed in the Maroa-Forsyth seven-on-seven round robin tournament on Saturday. The Tornadoes went 3-2 on the day as they defeated Maroa’s JV team, Pana, and Shelbyville. Pana was 2-3 and also defeated Maroa’s JV and Shelbyville.

Raiders, Panthers rematch, split seven-on-seven contest
The Central A&M Raiders played host to the Pana Panthers Wednesday night as the two seven-on-seven squads met for the second time in just three days.

Pana prevailed 18-12 in game one while the Raiders took game two by a final of 18-6.

Central A&M and Pana compete in 7-on-7
Both Central A&M and Pana traveled to Mt. Zion on Monday to compete against the host Braves, the Meridian Hawks, and against each other. The score of these games was not kept, with both teams getting 20 minutes on offense and defense each and a 10-minute break in-between.

Pana hosts first 7-on-7 of the season, goes 4-1
Football has returned as Pana kicked things off with the first 7-on-7 of the season for the area as they hosted nine other teams in a round robin tournament style 7-on-7. Teams from all over came to the 7-on-7, including Flora, Salem, Hillsboro, Arcola, Shelbyville, Litchfield, Lincoln, Cumberland, and Rochester’s JV team.

Results from the Pana LiveWell 5K Run
There were 162 runners for the first-ever Pana Community Hospital LiveWell 5K run and 3K Walk on Saturday. The course started in Pana’s Kitchell Park and made its way across the east side of Pana before crossing U. S. 51 and ending up at the front drive of Pana Community Hospital.

Putt throws two State records, Farris and Kile compete
Although going unnamed in Thursday’s recap of the preliminaries of the State track meet, there was a third competitor from the area who was at the meet on Saturday and that was Pana’s Tristan Putt. Putt competes in the wheelchair division and the other competitors in the division didn’t have to qualify for Saturday.
