The Pana Invite was once again ran on Saturday as the Panthers and Central A&M Raiders competed in the 13-team track meet. Pana won the girls side of the Invite with 125 points while A&M was eighth with 28 points; the Panther boys were third with 95.5 points and A&M was 11 with nine points.

“This was the first time we’ve beaten Vandalia since I’ve been here,” said head coach Mike Malisia. “We’ve had a couple of close games. I think it was two years ago when they beat us 1-0 on a walk-off with a passed ball, but this was a big statement win to the conference,” said Malisia about his team’s 11-3 victory over the Vandals on Friday.

The Nokomis Redskins got off to a fast start on Thursday as they took an 8-0 lead in the first inning over Pana. The Panthers scored a run in the top of the second, but Nokomis continued their streak and scored a run in the second inning and four in the third to win 13-1.

The Pana Panthers baseball team hosted Ramsey on Wednesday afternoon in a makeup game from earlier in the season. Pana picked up 15 hits on the day and scored 18 runs while Ramsey had seven hits and scored six, giving Pana the five-inning victory with an 18-6 final.

The Pana Panthers hosted Central A&M on Monday afternoon. The Raiders scored one run in every inning leading up to the sixth in which they scored six runs in the sixth and six in the seventh while Pana scored a run in the second, third, and seventh innings as the Raiders won 17-3.

Some 20 minutes later, he was still toting the bulky hardware under one arm, almost like a football.

High-energy Pana basketball team defeats Carlyle Indians 69-57
It was a different atmosphere for the Pana Panthers on Tuesday night, compared to last week. The Panthers opened the game on a 7-0 run, which electrified the bench and got them into the game. After they quieted down a little bit in the second and third quarters, the fourth quarter was rowdy, but in a good way, which helped the Panthers defeat the Indians 69-57.

The Panthers took the early lead and never looked back on Monday afternoon as they took on the Bloomington Purple Raiders. The Panthers defeated the Raiders 53-36 to earn second place, after Effingham was declared the tournament winner on Friday.
