Lane Funneman lost out on his junior year of baseball. Whether or not his senior year will happen is still yet to be seen, but he secured his future beyond that on Friday when he signed his letter of intent to play baseball at Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville.
“The staff of coaches and the baseball experience that they had there really stuck out to me,” said Funneman about his decision. “I also wanted to be in the GRAC (Great Rivers Athletic Conference), one of the premier JUCO college conferences, and one that gets a lot of recognition from 4-year schools and pro scouts.” Monday, November 23, 2020
COVID-19 has had a great impact on high school sports across the country. Cross country and golf have been the only two sports that were able to be played in this fall season. Pana’s Brock Schoonover, Jesse Gruber, and Brianna Sarver were just three of those runners who were able to participate this season, but the trio never had an official senior night this season as the Pana program doesn’t host any home meets.
