“We were just going too fast and not taking care of the ball. We had too many turnovers in the third quarter, and we didn’t rebound as well as I would’ve liked in the third quarter either. I thought we did well in the first half of the game, but the second half wasn’t great,” said South Fork head coach James Peacock after his team’s 70-53 loss to North Mac Thursday.

Staunton's quick start too much for South Fork girls
After not having school on Monday or Tuesday due to the weather, and having their game against Lutheran cancelled on Monday, the South Fork Ponies traveled to Staunton to take on the Bulldogs on Wednesday.

New coach, same goal for South Fork girls
Although Vincent Pop had to step down as head coach for the Ponies due to his job giving him more responsibility, assistant coach James Peacock stepped up and took over for the season.

Although Peacock had been with the team for a number of years, this will be his first time acting as a head coach. “The school board was asking around for someone to step up and I have a younger kid who plays junior high basketball so I really didn’t want to at first. But, I’m glad that I said that I would step up and coach and I think we are going to have a good season,” said Peacock.
