Missed free-throws hurt South Fork in regional exit

Unfortunately for the South Fork Ponies, their free-throws weren’t so free on Monday night against Athens in their Regional opener. The Ponies missed 18 free-throws on the night, and were defeated by 16 in the game, as their season ended on a 53-37 loss.

Fast start helps Ponies ride out win over Mount Pulaski
Just one game before their senior night on Monday, it was the three South Fork Pony seniors who came up big on Friday night as the Ponies defeated Mount Pulaski 52-40.

Whether it was the game-high 18 points from Mackenzie Harmon, the 2-2 night from the free-throw line for Emalee Howe, or Morgan Summers getting after the ball on the offensive glass and keeping plays alive, all three seniors played a crucial role in helping get the victory on Friday.

North Mac downs Ponies on big 3rd quarter
“We were just going too fast and not taking care of the ball. We had too many turnovers in the third quarter, and we didn’t rebound as well as I would’ve liked in the third quarter either. I thought we did well in the first half of the game, but the second half wasn’t great,” said South Fork head coach James Peacock after his team’s 70-53 loss to North Mac Thursday.

Three South Fork Junior High girls make all-star teams
South Fork Junior High Girls Basketball recently had three players nominated to participate in the 3 and 4A Central Illinois All-star game held in Virginia. Lilly Wake and Jara Shoulders played on the 7th grade squad while Jayden Neal played on the 8th grade team.
