KINCAID — Losing three seniors may not sound like a lot, but that is more than half of a basketball starting lineup in a season. That is what head coach Vincent Pop and the South Fork Ponies face this season.

CEO Powder Puff game turning into annual classic
In its inaugural year last year, the Christian County CEO Powder Puff football game was a big success. Big enough, in fact, that the CEO program expanded it’s reach this year. Where it was just a Taylorville affair last year, Wednesday night’s game frittered not only four Taylorville teams, but also teams from Pana and South Fork as well.

Ponies bow to Marquette; Doan surpasses 1,100 yards rushing
It wasn’t reflected in the final score, but the Kincaid Ponies, led by its nine seniors on Senior Night, put up a valiant effort in Kincaid Friday night at John B. Pacotti Field against the much bigger and speedy Alton Marquette Explorers, losing by the score of 28-20.

East Alton Wood River outlasts South Fork Ponies
ALTON — The South Fork Ponies journeyed to Alton Friday night to face off against East Alton-Wood River (EAWR). The Ponies held the Oilers to just six points in the first half and tied them in the third quarter, but EAWR was too much in the fourth  as they scored 14 to win 20-6.

Nokomis spoils Kincaid homecoming with 26-16 win
The Kincaid Ponies held the Nokomis Redskins scoreless in the second half, but two lost fumbles and missed tackles allowed Nokomis to build a 26-8 first half lead and ultimately went on to defeat the Ponies, 26-16, Friday night. Kincaid drops to 2-4 on the season.

South Fork JV grounds Meridian in 18-8 victory
The South Fork JV Ponies headed to Macon on Monday to play against the Meridian Hawks. The Ponies picked up three rushing touchdowns while only allowing one to the Hawks to win 18-8.

Route 104 Rivals: Ponies plow Pawnee in 46-0 shutout
KINCAID — Some years ago, rapper M. C. Hammer had a big hit, “Can’t Touch This.” The same could be said of Levi Doan Friday night at John B. Pacotti Field in Kincaid as the Pawnee Indians couldn’t touch the 5-11, 170-pound senior who racked up 355 yards rushing and scored five rushing touchdowns in the Ponies 46-0 rout of their closest rival on Friday night. It was the first win of the season for Kincaid as they improve to 1-3.

Dupo's two scores moves South Fork to 0-3
The South Fork Ponies made the trip to Dupo twice over the weekend, the first time on Friday and then for the continuation on Saturday. The Ponies had a couple of scoring opportunities, but penalties called the two scores back and they fell 14-0.

South Fork comes up short, 15-14
A two-point conversion by Tri-County Oakland with 41 seconds left in the third quarter proved to be the one-point difference in Friday night’s game with the South Fork Ponies in Kincaid Friday night. But ultimately, it was ball control by the Titians in the fourth quarter which led them to their 15-14 win.
