Edinburg eager to face new challenges
The Edinburg boys basketball team is eager to turn the corner this season after a rough start under first-year head coach Jonathon Yard last season. The Wildcats ended their season in the Regional with a win over the fourth-seeded Stewardson-Strasburg, but fell to Tri-City the next night.

“Last year was tough. There was a learning curve for everyone, me included being a first time head coach. The positive thing, though, we ended on a strong note in Regionals. We were the 13-seed out of 13 teams and upset the four-seed, and then gave Tri-City all they could handle who beat us by 30 or so a couple of weeks prior. They just hit some big shots down the stretch and we couldn’t get the stops we needed to. There was just something there in that last week that clicked; unfortunately, it took that long, but it was an encouraging sign going forward,” said Yard.
