Mohawks officially end season at Busch Stadium

ST. LOUIS — The Morrisonville Mohawk Baseball Team played their final game of the year  against Vandalia at Busch Stadium on Thursday.

“A game like this is more about the experience,” Morrisonville Head Baseball Coach Mark Ferrill said after his team got the opportunity to play at Busch Stadium in St. Louis Thursday afternoon. “You want to try and get as many guys on the field as you can and try to get everyone an at bat so they know what it feels like. We tried throwing some different guys on the mound, but made sure they all went to the bullpen and got warm to know what it’s like down there,” he continued.

Defending state champs end season for Mohawks
The Morrisonville Mohawks took on Windsor/ Stewardson-Strasburg on Friday night in Pawnee. The Mohawks fell 10-0 thanks, in part, to a six-run third.

After Edinburg faced off against Windsor, the Morrisonville Mohawks faced off against the host Pawnee Indians. Neither team was able to get much offense going, but Morrisonville came out on top as they won 3-2.

JACKSONVILLE — The Morrisonville Mohawks and Lutheran traveled to Jacksonville to get their conference game in on Thursday. Despite the wind and the rain, Lenz field in Jacksonville is an all-turf field and allowed the teams to play.

The Morrisonville Mohawks hosted the Lutheran/Calvary co-op on Tuesday night for their Senior Night contest. The Crusaders took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and scored a run in the third and the sixth to come away with the 4-0 win and spoil the Mohawk Senior Night.

The Morrisonville Mohawks played a makeup game against Tri-City on Monday. The Tornadoes showed off their bats on the night as they defeated the Mohawks 18-2.

Morrisonville found themselves down 5-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning on Monday against Mt. Olive. The Mohawks scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh, which included a walk-off single by Braxton Schmedeke for the 6-5 win.

The Morrisonville Mohawk softball team had 15 hits in their 8-4 win over Lincolnwood, which improved their record to 8-8 on the year.

Redskins down Lady Mohawks
The Nokomis Redskins and Morrisonville Mohawks faced off on the softball diamond on Monday. The Redskins took a 1-0 lead after the second inning and were up 2-0 after the fourth. Morrisonville cut the lead to one run in the fifth, but Nokomis scored twice in the bottom of the fifth inning to lead 4-1, which would end up the final score.

Greenfield builds early lead, beats Morrisonville
The Morrisonville baseball team traveled to Greenfield to face off against Greenfield/Northwestern Monday. Greenfield and the Mohawks were tied at one after the first inning, but Greenfield scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning and Morrisonville was only able to get one run in the top of the sixth as they fell 4-2.
