Talented core to lead Mohawk baseball in 2021
“We’ve got a pretty solid top-three rotation on the mound, we can piece together a pretty good bullpen, and we’ve got a bunch of kids that can swing the bat. We think we’re going to have a pretty good season,” Morrisonville assistant baseball coach Josh Stone said of this year’s Mohawk team.
Despite a 1-5 start to the season, Stone wasn’t overly bullish on his team. Outside of a lopsided loss to open the season, the Mohawks have been in every single game so far this young season. A hit here or an error there, and Morrisonville could easily be 5-1. That first week of the season was just about a throwaway week anyway with so many kids still absent due to their participation in other sports.

Quality over quantity this year for MHS softball
“It might not be quantity here, but we’ve got a great group of girls. I’d rather take these girls over 20 others,” Morrisonville softball coach Paul Stutz said of his team. His roster only features 12 girls, but he and CO-coach Nikki Frisbie are both optimist about the talent on the field.
Three of those twelve are seniors and have been with the program since their freshman year. “Caitlin Clarke, Whitney Lipe, and Bella Tryon are technically the only ones that have played varsity because we didn’t play last year,” Stutz said. “They were here their freshman year when we last won a regional, so we’re going to lean on them for their experience, and they’re all going to be asked to do a lot. Caitlin is playing catcher and probably the left side of the infield, Whitney is our number-one pitcher and also first base, Bella will be at second base and a little bit of outfield.”
