Mohawks score four in the seventh to defeat Ramsey
RAMSEY — The Morrisonville Mohawks and Ramsey Rams faced off with one another on Thursday night where they faced off in a hitters duel. Both teams scored in the first inning, while Ramsey scored in the third, Morrisonville in the fourth, both teams scored in the fifth and sixth innings, and Morrisonville scored in the seventh to win 9-7.

Decatur Lutheran outpaces Morrisonville 12-1
MORRISONVILLE — The Morrisonville Mohawks were only credited with one error Friday afternoon in a 12-1 loss to Decatur LSA, but there were several hard-hit balls that managed to just squirt past Mohawk infielders.

MORRISONVILLE — The Morrisonville Mohawk softball team continued its winning ways on Thursday night as they hosted the Okaw Valley Timberwolves. The Mohawks scored three runs in the third and one run in the fourth while only allowing one run in the fourth to defeat Okaw Valley 4-1.

MORRISONVILLE — The Mohawks allowed seven runs in the third inning to Shelbyville on Thursday night after having a 2-1 lead until that point. The Rams used that momentum to carry them throughout the rest of the game and win 10-3.

Carlinville takes early lead, tops Mohawks 5-3
The Morrisonville baseball team gave up a 2-0 lead early to the Cavaliers of Carlinville on Tuesday afternoon before cutting the lead in half in the bottom of the third inning. Carlinville scored two more runs in the fourth and one in the sixth while the Mohawks mustered two runs in the seventh, but their comeback was cut short at 5-3.

The Morrisonville Tomahawk volleyball team had a very successful season this year. Not only did they go 20-2 during their season and won their Regional and Sectional, but it was the Tomahawks first State appearance.

Lady Mohawks eyeing deep run in '19
In 2018, the Lady Mohawk softball team secured a regional championship before seeing their season end at sectionals in a 2-0 loss to Toledo-Cumberland.  Toledo Cumberland ended up losing to Windsor Stew-Stras, the team that ultimately took home the state title. Morrisonville, then,  was neck and neck last year with some of the best teams in the state.

Morrisonville Baseball Coach Mark Ferrill is still trying to nail down a go-to pitcher as the new season looms. “I think our biggest unknown is our pitching,” he said. “The majority of our games last year were split between Adam (Deal) and Tanner (Millburg), and that’s hard to replace.”

Big third quarter helps Vandals topple the Lancers
The Mohawk Classic continued on Wednesday night as the Vandalia Vandals and Lincolnwood Lancers faced off on Wednesday. Neither team really had trouble scoring the ball, but Vandalia got a 10-point swing in the third quarter which helped them win 73-59.
