Ann Little retiring after 35 years of service in county
Ann Little is hanging up her whistle after 35 years of service as a teacher, coach, and administrator in Christian County. Her most recent position was the athletic director and high school and junior high volleyball coach at Morrisonville High School.

Little’s first education job began in Assumption back in 1985 where she was hired as a teacher at Kemmerer Village. “Right form the very beginning, I learned how to be empathetic to the child’s needs and how to engage them in their learning. It was so important to get to know them and earn their respect,” said Little.

While teaching, Little also picked up her first job in sports, as the head coach of the girls basketball team at Kemmerer Village; she was also an assistant on the high school track team.

Field of Digital Dreams
Taylorville’s Jackson Tex belted a clutch two-run double in the top of the sixth inning, and Caden Mileham tossed a five-strikeout gem Thursday as the Tornadoes rallied past cross-county rival Morrisonville by a final of 3-1. With a one-two-three seventh inning, Taylorville sealed the victory and brought a capacity crowd to its feet with a thunderous applause, shaking the foundations of the Arizona Diamondback’s Chase Field in the process.

It was all a virtual simulation of course, but, right-now, even make believe baseball is better than no baseball at all, and now the Tornadoes and the Mohawks can say they’ve joined the likes of March Madness, the NBA, and NASCAR, which have all turned to virtual competitions amid a nationwide sports hiatus.

To conduct this virtual showdown, the Breeze-Courier compiled player stats from the 2019 season via GameChanger and inputted them into MLB: The Show for the Playstation 4.

Hope defies injury and outbreak for Morrisonville's Goebel, Tryon
When Governor J.B. Pritzker issued his stay-at-home order, he also extended the school closure date until at least April 7. With that, some local high school athletes are worried that their upcoming season is quickly slipping away, maybe entirely.

These student athletes certainly understand that health and human safety come first, but the burning desire to return to the diamond still beckons.
