Christian County athletes named All-State
Three members of the third-place Central A&M basketball team and one member of the Taylorville team were named to the All-State team this year after their seasons. The four may be on separate teams, but they all have one thing in common: they’re juniors.

Central A&M punches their ticket to State
With 1:08 left on the clock in the fourth quarter and a 72-61 lead for the Raiders, the A&M student section started a “No School Friday!” cheer. Sesser-Valier didn’t give up fighting over the final 68 seconds and pushed the envelope, but the cheer rang true as the Raiders were able to fend off the Red Devil offense and win 79-69, advancing to State for the first time in school history.

EDINBURG — For the first time since the three-peat in the 1999-2000, 2000-2001, and 2001-2002 seasons, the Central A&M Raiders captured back-to-back Regional championships. This one was a 70-43 victory over the Tri-City Tornadoes.

The last time that Central A&M and Warrensburg-Latham locked up in basketball action, it was on Warrensburg’s floor for the CIC tournament championship. On Friday night, the Raiders were able to lock up the regular season title as well, as they were victorious 74-44.

Altamont's second quarter lifts them over A&M
After winning their respective Regionals, Central A&M and Altamont met on A&M’s home floor for the Sectional semi-final game. A&M had a gym full of fans ready to cheer them on to a Sectional championship game, but Altamont outscored the Raiders 25-14 in the second quarter, which proved to be the difference maker in the end.

Central A&M and Nokomis faced off on Wednesday night in the Regional semifinal hosted by Okaw Valley. The Raiders and Redskins played a close game in the first quarter, but the Raider defense didn’t allow Nokomis to get anything going in the next three quarters, helping them get the 58-28 victory and advance to the Regional final tonight.
