CAM softball falls to Shelbyville
The Central A&M softball team hosted Shelbyville on Monday. The Rams scored three runs in the fourth, fifth, and seventh innings while the Raiders scored three in the seventh, but fell 9-3 on the night.

Raider softball drops Warrensburg doubleheader
The Central A&M softball team faced off against Warrensburg-Latham in a doubleheader on Saturday. The Raiders dropped both games to the Cardinals as they were defeated 12-1 and 11-4 on the day.

Sullivan's big third inning drops Lady Raiders
The Central A&M Raiders hosted the Sullivan Redskins on Wednesday night as they faced off against one another. Sullivan picked up five runs in the third inning after they scored one in the first and allowed two to the Raiders in the bottom of the first.

The Redskins scored three runs in the top of the sixth for their nine runs in the game while the Raiders scored one run in the fourth, two in the fifth, and one in the bottom of the sixth as they were defeated 9-6 on the afternoon.

Smaller numbers, big hopes for Central A&M track
Although the teams may not have as many numbers as they have had in the past, the idea and the goal still stays the same: for the teams to be competitive in their meets and try and get as many kids into Sectionals and State as possible.

For girls head coach Paige Seitz, this year is especially important as it will be her first official season as head track coach. Seitz was hired a year ago, right before the season was cutoff due to COVID.

A&M softball looking to continue past successes
The last time that the Central A&M softball team took the field, they were in a heated Regional championship game against Meridian. The Raiders were knocked out of the Regional by Meridian in a very tight 3-2 ballgame.

After not having an opportunity to get back to the Regional last season as there was no season, getting back there is one of head coach Wayne Jordan’s goals, as is it every year.

A&M baseball continuing stretch of long season
To say that this year has been taxing on local athletes would be quite the understatement. No school has felt this pain more than the Central A&M Raiders. Last year, when the football team went to State, their first two basketball games had to be moved back due to sharing so many athletes between the two sports.

And that was in a normally scheduled year.

A&M clocks Clinton, finishes unbeaten
The Central A&M Raiders hit the road on Friday to face off against the Clinton Maroons for their final game of the season. The Raiders picked up seven touchdowns in the game and finished out with a 49-0 win.

A&M volleyball finishes season with victory
The Central A&M volleyball team traveled to Argenta to finish their season off against the Bombers on Thursday night. For the second night in a row the Raiders needed three to sets, but tool the victory with a first set win of 25-22, lost the second set 21-25, but won the third set 25-19.

The Central A&M Raiders hit the road on Wednesday night as they traveled to Pawnee to take on the Indians. The Raiders needed three sets after dropping the first 21-25, but answered with two straight as they took set two 25-7 and set three 25-22.

The Central A&M Raider volleyball team traveled to Okaw Valley on Tuesday night to start their final three-match stretch of the season. The Raiders were victorious in three sets as they won the first set 25-21, fell in the second 22-25, but won the third 25-22.

Central A&M volleyball drops two at Cerro Gordo Saturday
The Central A&M Raiders played in the Cerro Gordo Round Robin tournament on Saturday where they faced off against the host and Clinton. Against Clinton the Raiders fell in two sets with scores of 24-26 and 20-25 and then fell in three sets to Cerro Gordo 25-18, 13-25, and 24-26.

Brody Barnes has 4 TDs, lifts Central A&M over Sullivan
Although Friday night was the final home game for the Raiders this season in which they celebrated their seniors and the Homecoming Court, it was a sophomore that came up big for the Raiders.

Brody Barnes had four touchdowns on the night with three on the ground and one through the air on Friday night as the Raiders rolled to a 48-6 victory.

A&M volley ball picks up back-to-back wins
The Central A&M Raiders were back in action on Tuesday night when they hosted Neoga. The Raiders were victorious on Tuesday night in straight sets 25-23 and 25-13.

Julia Braundmeier had one kill, one assist, and nine digs; Marissa Snearly had one ace, one kill, eight assists, two digs, and a block; Julia Corzine had three aces, three kills, eight assists, and one block; Emma Beck had two aces, five kills, and one block, Ashlyn Hennings had one ace, two kills, and one dig; Victoria Billups had two blocks; Makenzie Smith had one ace, six kills, and seven digs; Sydney Allen had two digs.

A&M Raiders top Edinburg in cross-county matchup
It’s been an interesting year for scheduling to say the least. Having to play teams in each COVID region opened some games for teams that they may not have seen in other years. None was more evident than on Monday night as the Central A&M Raiders hosted Edinburg. The Raiders won in straight sets as they took the first 25-16 and the second 25-18.

MACON — The Central A&M Raiders traveled to Meridian on Friday night to face off against the Hawks. The Raiders finished the game with 302 total rushing yards in their 50-14 win.

Raiders beat Cardinals to advance to 2-0
The Raider defense held the Warrensburg-Latham Cardinals to just 30 rushing yards en route to a 19-7 victory on Friday night.

Neither team scored in the first quarter, but the Raiders broke the scoreless tie as James Paradee busted through the line on a quarterback keeper for a one-yard score. After Jarrett Robertson added the PAT, the Raiders led 7-0.

A&M's middle hitters shut down Meridian on senior night
The Central A&M Raiders hosted Meridian Tuesday night for senior night where Emma Beck, Julia Braundmeier, and Victoria Billups were all honored prior to the contest.

The Raiders got an early side out point and went on a run to lead 8-6 in the set. Billups was able to get her hands on a couple of solo blocks and gave the Raiders an 11-6 lead in the set, which forced the Hawk’s coach to take a timeout.

It wasn’t just Billups who made a statement in the first set, as Ashlyn Hennings came alive in the middle part of the set and put down a couple of big kills as well as Makenzie Smith, who duo’d with Billups on a block for the final Raider point of the first set as they took it 25-16.

It took three sets for the Raiders to pick up their first victory of the season, but they were successful in doing so as they topped the Storm 22-25, 26-24, and 25-15.

Raider football does it all in Saturday win over Tuscola
Before this season got underway, Central A&M head coach Brent Weakly said that he didn’t coach a spring sport for one reason: the weather.

Mother Nature altered his plan this past week as the Raiders were supposed to face off against Tuscola in a Friday night affair, but instead were delegated to a Saturday afternoon contest due to Thursday’s downpour of rain and field conditions on Friday.

In a season where she only has 18 games to play with a team that hasn’t played a volleyball game since their loss in a Regional semi-final more than a year and a half ago, Central A&M head coach Vanessa Rork has to replace nine seniors.
