YMCA Predators compete in Jacksonville Pentathlon
JACKSONVILLE — The Christian County YMCA Predator swim team traveled to Jacksonville to compete in the Pentathlon Swim meet. All of the swimmers aged 9-10 and up competed in the butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, and the individual medley. The results were as follows:

The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) announced on November 4, 2019 that it is adding 13 individual runners (8 boys, 5 girls), and one boys’ team (St. Viator), to its field of qualifiers for the 2019 IHSA Cross Country State Finals.

CC Youth Volleyball opens season
The Christian County Youth volleyball program started its new season on Sunday at the Stonington Community Center. There are 182 players from across the county that are participating this season. The teams will play games up until the first week of December.

FBCA falls just short of major upset in Regional
The FBCA Falcons pulled a very tough draw in the Regional semifinal this season. The eighth-seeded Falcons took on the number-one seed in the Sub-Sectional Riverton/Tri-City on Tuesday afternoon; last year the ninth-seeded Falcons had to face the second-seed and the fifth-seed to make it to the Regional title game.

TAYLORVILLE — The Tuesday men’s Merchant league continued play on Tuesday. Martynowski & Blakeman finished the night in first, Olde Bowl was second, Hatch’s was third, Boston Heating and Cooling was fourth, and Wells Lawn Care, TCR System, and Spinner were tied for fifth.

Lincolnwood volleyball gets win number 900
The Raymond Lincolnwood volleyball team got win number 900 in program history last night as they defeated Nokomis in straight sets, 25-12 and 25-13. Mary Hammersley started the program at Lincolnwood in 1974 and coached the team for 24 years.

TAYLORVILLE — The Tuesday night men’s merchant league was in action last night. Olde Bowl, Matynowski & Blakeman, and Boston Heating and Cooling were tied for first, Hatch’s was fourth, Spinner was fifth, TCR System was sixth, and Wells Lawn Care was seventh.

FBCA takes down Taylorville soccer 3-0
The FBCA Falcons and Taylorville Tornadoes took on one another on the soccer field, but also had to compete against 90 degree heat Thursday.

The Falcons were able to score three times in the first half to leave Taylorville with a 3-0 victory over the Tornadoes.

The Tornadoes and the Mt. Zion Braves renewed their rivalry on Tuesday on the soccer field in Mt. Zion. The game was originally scheduled for 4:00, but was moved back to 6:30 due to the heat.

SIUC seniors Lane Ruppert and Dalee Young, both of Taylorville, placed third in an Illinois Spikeball tournament held at the University of Illinois, Urbana Campus on Saturday, September 7, 2019.

Spikeball teams from U of I, Champaign, Urbana area and other teams from around the state competed.
