Former Blue Mound, A&M players contribute to Millikin win
The Millikin softball team won two games at the Illinois Wesleyan Tournament on April 13 in Bloomington. The Big Blue defeated Wisconsin Eau Claire 6-0 and the University of Chicago 7-6.

TAYLORVILLE — On Sunday, the Chapel Hill Express basketball team will take on current THS seniors Nick and Jack Livingston and Brandon Odam, as well as THS graduates Blake Heimsness, Grant Livingston, and other players in a basketball game to raise money for the veterans in Taylorville.

The 23 ranked Millikin University softball team extended its winning streak to 13 straight games with a doubleheader sweep of Greenville University on March 21 in Greenville, Illinois. After posting back-to-back 9-3 wins over the Panthers, the Big Blue are now 14-2 on the season.

Christian County girls basketball all-conference members
Six girls from Christian County girls basketball teams were named to their respective all-conference teams this past season: Natalie Snyder was given first-team all-Apollo honors for the Tornadoes, Shania Schoonover was named to the all-SCC first-team and Maddie Ashcraft was named to the second-team, and Channing Reed was a unanimous first-team all-CIC selection with Haylee Virden and Channing Collins getting second-team honors. Reed was also named third-team all-state while Schoonover was an all-state special mention.

Millikin softball opens 2-2
The Millikin softball team opened its 2019 season by splitting a pair of games at the Tucson Softball Invitational on March 8 in Tucson, Arizona. The Big Blue won its season opener 9-0 over Brevard College and then lost to Baldwin Wallace University 2-0.

Yard Heating and Cooling finished in first, Taylorville Moose was second, Jandi Services, Y-Zoe’s, and T’Ville KC were tied for third, Wendy’s and Andy’s Market were tied for sixth, Lumb Restorations was eighth, Olde Bowl was ninth, CTI Fiber was 10, Solid 9 Pro Shop was 11, and T’Ville KC II was 12.

Lincolnwood finishes strong over Sangamon Valley
There’s an old saying that says that it isn’t about how someone starts something, it’s about how they finish. That saying rang true for the Lincolnwood Lancers on Saturday. After the game started with them scoring just five points in the first quarter while the Storm had 11, but the Lancers bounced back and scored 28 points in the second half to win 43-32.

Lincolnwood uses 2nd half to cap comeback
The Lincolnwood Lancers were down 24-14 at halftime, but have been a second-half team for a majority of their contests this season: in Carlinville when they faced off against Litchfield, the comeback began in the second half, just a few days ago against Nokomis in Morrisonville, the comeback began in the second-half, and on Tuesday night in Raymond, the second-half was where the Lancers were able to finish the 49-39 victory over Ramsey.

Edinburg, Lincolnwood wrap up Mohawk Classic Wednesday
After the Friday and Saturday Mohawk Classic games were cancelled due to the weather, last Wednesday and last night were used to make up the games that were cancelled. Edinburg and Lincolnwood wrapped up their tournament on Wednesday night, as Edinburg fell to Vandalia 79-32 and Lincolnwood fell to Nokomis 57-37.

YMCA Predators in Snowball meet
The Christian County YMCA Predators competed against 500 other swimmers in the annual 3-day Snowball Classic Swim Meet at the Kerasota’s YMCA. The Predators team consisted of 17 swimmers who  achieved more than 40 new personal best times!

After falling behind 24-20 at halftime and 37-30 after the third quarter, the Lincolnwood Lancers battled back for 25 points in the final quarter and then five more in overtime to top the Tri-City Tornadoes 60-57 on Friday.
