TAYLORVILLE — The Taylorville Police Department Detective Unit conducted an investigation alleging that a subject possessed child pornography. Friday, February 5, 2021
On February 3, 2021 at approximately 3:50 p.m. the Macon County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to a train accident in which a pedestrian was struck by a train. Deputies responded to the 500 block of North Railroad Avenue in Blue Mound, Illinois to discover a southbound Norfolk Southern train had struck a 53 year old female pedestrian. This week Crimestoppers is seeking information in regards to a burglary that occurred in Taylorville.
Sometime between Friday, January 22, 2021 and Monday, January 25, 2021, person or persons unknown made entry into an apartment located at 220 East Franklin Street. While inside, the unknown subject or subjects took a Playstation 4 and a 43” TV. There did not appear to be any damage made during entry. The total dollar amount of the theft is unknown at this time. Sometime over the past 2 weeks, person or persons unknown made entry into a residence located at 412 West Second Street. While inside, the unknown subject or subjects broke windows, doors, and damaged the ceiling. Nothing appeared to have been missing from the residence. A window may have been used to make entry. Sometime between Saturday, January 2, 2021 and Sunday, January 3, 2021, person or persons unknown made entry into a garage at a residence located at 608 Abby Lane. While inside, the unknown subject or subjects damaged property and disabled the garage door. There did not appear to be any damage done while making entry and no items missing. Joe L. Taylor III, 59, of Kincaid was pronounced dead on scene at the crash on Rt. 104 on October 3, 2020. Autopsy results indicate that Mr. Taylor suffered a cardiac event which led to the crash. Alcohol and multiple drugs were also present and a factor in this crash. The death was determined to be accidental. Thursday, December 24, 2020
This week Crimestoppers is seeking information in regards to a hit and run that occurred in Taylorville.
Sometime during the early morning hours of Thursday, December 10, 2020, an unknown vehicle struck another vehicle that was legally parked at the corner of Franklin and Shumway Streets. The suspect vehicle then left the scene heading southbound on Shumway Street. The victim’s vehicle suffered damage to the driver’s side of the vehicle. The suspect vehicle left pieces of what appears to be a broken side mirror at the scene. The total dollar amount of the damage is unknown at this time. Saturday, December 19, 2020
The Taylorville Police Department Community Action Team (CAT) recently began an investigation of alleged narcotic activity on the 600 block of North Pine Street in Taylorville.
TPD received information from citizens of potential subjects involved in the alleged narcotic activity. They found it to be credible information which led TPD to obtain a search warrant for a house located on North Pine Street, Taylorville, Ill.
The search warrant was executed on Tuesday, December 15, 2020. Chief Dwayne Wheeler credits the citizens and other sources to assist them in this Investigation. Wednesday, December 16, 2020
Taylorville Police arrested 32-year-old Zachary Crowley of Taylorville Friday, following an investigation into “grooming”, which is the action of preparing a child for meeting with the intent of committing a sexual act.
Zachary Crowley, is in custody and had a court hearing today. Crowley was employed at Taylorville Christian Church. According to Taylorville Police Chief Dwayne Wheeler, multiple parents from outside the Taylorville area now have also come forward with similar stories and an investigation is being conducted jointly with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office.
