Larry Scott trial delayed until Wednesday
The start of the trial of Larry L. Scott, 35, of Springfield, for attempted murder has been delayed 48 hours in Christian County Court. He faces four other charges related to a September, 2017, incident in the 200 block of Elm Street in Kincaid. The victim was allegedly shot twice by Scott.

Kincaid man charged with beating a 4-month-old infant
Chad R. Johnson, 30, of Kincaid, was charged in Christian County Court today with aggravated battery of a child with intent to do great bodily harm and violation of an order of protection. The charges stem from an incident in Taylorville Friday morning in the 100 block of East Main Cross where Johnson is alleged to have beaten a four-month-old child, said to be his.

Taylorville man charged with Class X felony in Pana shooting
The man who suffered gun shot wounds during an altercation in a Pana residence on Monday, June 25, has been released from the hospital. Theodore M. Fleming, 35, of Taylorville, was then arrested and charged in a two-count indictment with unlawful use/possession of a weapon and home invasion with a dangerous weapon.

Jeffrey L. Emerson, 51, with addresses in Hillsboro and Harvel, had his first appearance in Christian County Circuit Court before Christian County Resident Judge Brad Paisley on Thursday. He is charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse to a family member under age 18 and appeared in court via video link from the Christian County Jail.

Judge substitution allowed in case involving fatal accident
A motion requesting a substitution of judge for the trial of Owen Herbord, 19, of Rosamond, was granted by Fourth Circuit Court Associate Judge Christopher Matoush in Christian County Court on Monday. Herbord faces two felony charges, a misdemeanor charge and five traffic citations stemming from a two-vehicle accident on Illinois Route 16 just east of Rosamond in which a Nokomis man, 61-year-old  Randal K. McElroy, was killed. The accident happened on Feb. 26, 2018.

TAYLORVILLE — The attempted murder trial of Larry Scott, 35, of Springfield will not be starting as scheduled on May 21. Instead, the jury trial has been reset for June 18, 2018, in Christian County Court.

Information sought in local theft
Sometime between Tuesday, May 2, 2018 and Wednesday May 3, 2018, person or persons unknown took a cooler from inside the Christian County Seniors Center. The cooler contained 3 bottles of oil and a Ruger 380 handgun with a loaded magazine.  The cooler was sitting on a countertop during the time of the incident. The total amount of the theft is estimated at $450.

A former Taylorville man is accused of two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child under the age of 13 in Macon County Court.

Eppenger sentenced to 8 years in prison
A case which has worked its way through Christian County Circuit Court for a little more than four years ended on Friday afternoon with the sentencing of Dotty M. Eppenger, 31, of Taylorville, to eight years in the Illinois Department of Corrections by Christian County Resident Fourth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Brad Paisley. Eppenger was charged with residential burglary and aggravated battery of a peace office in April of 2014. She was accused of breaking into the home of Henry and Linnad Buesinger.

Kincaid Police conducted a narcotic investigation which led to the arrest of two subjects for possession of (crack) cocaine and possession with intent to deliver approximately 14.8 grams a class 1 felony other charges pending.
