This week Crimestoppers is seeking information in regards to criminal damage that occurred in Taylorville.
Sometime during the early morning hours of Sunday, December 1, 2019, person or persons unknown spray painted the bleacher area of the Hafliger Baseball Field located inside Manners Park. There were several areas of the bleachers spray painted with words and pictures. The total dollar amount of the damage is unknown at this time. Wednesday, December 11, 2019
Two co-defendants will face jury trial on Mar. 2, 2020, at 8:30 a.m., following hearings in Christian County Court this morning. Marvin L. Bailey, 19 and Cierra S. Little, 33, both of St. Louis, Mo. are both charged with burglary and theft between $10,000 and $100,000 at the Taylorville Wal-Mart on Nov. 21, 2019. Three people are accused in the incident in which it is alleged almost $15,000 in Apple cell phones and watches were taken from the Taylorville store. Friday, December 6, 2019

On November 27, 2019 at approximately 10:45 p.m. members of the Taylorville Police Department while conducting narcotic enforcement conducted a traffic stop which led to the arrest of Charles R. Hays, 42 years of age of Langleyville. Tuesday, December 3, 2019

Sometime between Saturday, November 16, 2019 and Sunday, November 17, 2019, person or persons unknown made entry into a garage located at 909 West Vandeveer Street. While inside, the unknown subject or subjects took numerous tools. This includes, 6 socket sets and an impact driver. The total dollar amount of the theft is estimated at over $2000. Taylorville Police Chief Dwayne Wheeler said authorities have in custody a suspect in those reported shots fired near Hershey Tower on Tuesday night. Wheeler said the suspect is a 16-year-old male from Springfield.
Wheeler said he was taken into custody Thursday night about 11:00 without incident in Springfield. At the time of his arrest, he had in his possession two hand guns, one which was believed to have been the one fired on Tuesday. The gun has been sent to the crime lab for forensic analysis. The suspect could be facing charges for aggravated discharge of a firearm. Friday, November 22, 2019
Three St. Louis, Mo. residents face charges in Christian County Court of burglary and theft between $10,000 and $100,00, after one of the trio entered Taylorville Wal-Mart and made off with nearly $15,000 in merchandise. The theft occurred during the late evening hours of Wednesday night into early Thursday morning.
One of the defendants, Marvin L. Bailey, 19, appeared before Judge Christopher Matoush Friday morning and his bond was set at $100,000. In information filed with the court, Bailey is accused of walking into the Taylorville Wal-Mart on Thursday, having a crow bar underneath his jacket. Friday, November 22, 2019

A 16-year-old male Pana juvenile is being held in the Madison County Juvenile Detention Center following an alleged threat he made against another Pana High School student on Monday.
In a statement from Pana Police Chief Daniel Bland, the police were contacted by Pana High School staff and made aware of a threat by a male juvenile student who possibly threatened to bring a shotgun to the school and carry out a shooting. Wednesday, September 25, 2019

Quinton L. Morrissey, 20, of Pana, was due for jury trial in the 2017 murder of Stephan Presnell, 59, of Lake Pana. Instead, during a hearing before Judge Christopher Matoush, he pled guilty to Count III, second degree murder without reason. He was sentenced to 20 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
Counts I and II, aggravated battery with intent to do great bodily harm and first degree murder with strong possibility of death or injury, were dismissed as part of the negotiated settlement. Friday, September 13, 2019
