Courthouse streaker pleads guilty in several cases
Brandon J. Emery, 27, of Taylorville pled guilty in three Christian County felony cases on Monday and faces sentencing in August. The charges stem from incidents Sept. 20, 2018, around the Taylorville Courthouse square when Emery was accused of breaking into the Christian County Courthouse, then going outside and hitting a pair of Taylorville police officers, all while wearing no clothes.

Jenkins denied bond reduction, still posts regardless
Taylorville resident Bradley S. Jenkins, 30, was in St. Louis Municipal Court Friday afternoon where a motion to lower his bail was denied by Judge Madeline Connolly. It remained at $100,000 cash only.

Area man is sentenced to 3 years in two cases
Joshua M. DeClerck, 36, of Pawnee, was sentenced in two cases in Christian County Court Thursday afternoon before Judge Brad Paisley.

He was sentenced to one year in the Illinois Department of Corrections for aggravated fleeing from a peace officer, followed by one year of mandatory supervised release. He was given credit for 107 days already served.

Christian County Sheriff Bruce Kettelkamp says his office is investigating a break-in that occurred early Tuesday morning, around 4:00 a.m., at the Christian County Animal Control facility located at 300 South Baughman Road in Taylorville.

Jenkins in court in Missouri today
Bradley S. Jenkins, 30, of Taylorville, appeared before Judge Thomas A. McCarthy in St. Louis Circuit Court today for initial arraignment. No results of the hearing were available at presstime today. He is currently charged with felony domestic assault in the third degree in connection with the death of his wife, Allissa L. Martin, 27, in St. Louis late Saturday or early Sunday morning. Jenkins is being held on $100,000 cash only bond in St. Louis City Jail.

On May 21, 2019, the Illinois Supreme Court levied a two-month suspension against a local attorney for filing a statement of candidacy for Shelby County Resident Judge in which he knowingly claimed a false residency.

Local police capture suspect after a two-hour manhunt
Monday night, at approximately 6:35 p.m., the Taylorville Police Department responded to an aggravated battery which occurred in the 700 block of East Poplar Street. Police say a victim, whose identity remains undisclosded, was struck multiple times. That victim identified the suspect as Joseph R. Sparling, 31. According to TPD, Sparling was allegedly in possession of a firearm and possibly used the firearm to “pistol whip” the victim. Following the alleged incident, Sparling fled the scene before police arrived.

Palmer man enters plea agreement in child battery case
A Palmer man, Darrel Hunter Sanders, 20, entered a negotiated plea of guilty in a 2018 case of aggravated battery of a child under the age of 13. Sanders entered the plea in Christian County Court Friday morning before Christian County Resident Judge Brad Paisley.

Shelbyville man gets 24 years for meth
Nathan T. Mount, 24, of Shelbyville was sentenced to 22 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for possession of methamphetamine between 100 and 400 grams. It is a Class X felony.

A 24-year-old Pana man will spend the next 10 years in prison after a sentencing hearing in Christian County Court Tuesday afternoon. Eric J. Merritt received 10 years on a charge of residential burglary.

Husband and wife take plea deal in cheerleading funds theft
A Taylorville couple charged with stealing youth cheerleading funds entered into a plea agreement in Christian County Court today. Ramon A. Gutierrez and Sasha L. Gutierrez each pled guilty to theft of funds from the Taylorville Youth Cheerleading Organization.

In the negotiated plea accepted by Fourth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Christopher Matoush, each will serve two years probation and required to pay the organization $7,943.29 in restitution. Fines and fees total $9,346.29.

A 41-year-old Morrisonville man is being held on $100,000 bond following an appearance in Christian County Court today, where it is alleged he threatened the lives of the grandchildren of Christian County Sheriff Bruce Kettelkamp and the families of two other deputies.

Taylorville man sentenced to 10 years for child abuse
TAYLORVILLE — Chad R. Johnson, 30, of Taylorville, entered a plea of guilty in a negotiated agreement to aggravated battery of a child and was sentenced to 10 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. The agreement was accepted by Christian County Resident Fourth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Brad Paisley Thursday afternoon.

A 29-year-old Taylorville woman faces a charge of aggravated cruelty to animals after a pitiful was found dead in the home she previously occupied in Kincaid. Her bond was set at $30,000 by Christian County Resident Judge Brad Paisley.

Taylorville man arrested on meth delivery charges
On April 2, 2019, an investigation conducted by the Central Illinois Enforcement Group and the Christian County States Attorney, Mike Havera into the distribution of crystal methamphetamine (commonly referred to as ICE) in the Taylorville, Christian County area ended in the arrest of 33 year old James J. Humphrey of Taylorville.

A Decatur man was sentenced today to 13 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to a meth trafficking charge, a Class X felony, in Christian County Court. Darien C.
