Now or later?
Is Christianity about what God is doing now, or is it about what God is going to do later? We could ask this question a different way: is Christian faith about God changing the life that we’re living or about God granting us eternal life? Christians in our culture have tended to focus on the latter: eternal salvation. And  Scripture speaks clearly that this is a prominent piece of Jesus’ mission and ministry. It cannot be ignored. And Christians should passionately share this message with the people around them.

(THE CONVERSATION via AP) —  Fear is arguably as old as life. It is deeply ingrained in the living organisms that have survived extinction through billions of years of evolution. Its roots are deep in our core psychological and biological being, and it is one of our most intimate feelings. Danger and war are as old as human history, and so are politics and religion.

Having an attitude of thankfulness
TAYLORVILLE — What does it mean to have an attitude of thankfulness? Well, it means being thankful in all situations. It means having the ability to see past the bad and always find something good in every situation. So often we find ourselves engrossed in our daily routines, heads down, nose to the grindstone, so much so that we forget to look up and look around us to see God’s handiwork all around us.

'A new beat'
A habit I learned long ago was that if I hoped to deliver a good message I should listen to others who do the same. So, public speakers, preachers, politicians, authors, even celebrities – I try to listen as much as I can. Sometimes I find things to aspire to, to utilize, other times it is a good case of what not to do. But, as someone who regularly preaches the Word of God, I am particularly drawn to sermons. I read classic sermons, famous sermons, sermons for specific occasions, colleagues’ sermons and the like.
